Gosh when I see it written I haven't read anything :( I'll get right back on top of it though =) For more reasons of why I wasnt reading for a while, click HERE.

So, 'Remember Me?' by Sophie Kinsella was one of the books that I read.

Lexi Smart has a good excuse to think of herself as "20-something." When the car crash sent her into a coma, she was 25. When she wakes up in the London hospital, she is 28, or so the nurses tell her. Lexi's amnesia has erased memories of significant additions to her life, including a high-paying job, a personal assistant, a curvy new body, a spectacular loft, and a gorgeous husband. As she's attempting to take stock of her recent acquisitions, she begins also to survey what she might have left behind. And then, as if things weren't complicated enough already, when she meets a new acquaintance, she discover something that she never thought possible.

I really like Sophie Kinsella's Books. I've read the whole Shopoholic series, and almost all of her single books :) If you've read her other books then you know that she is an amazing writer, and never disappoints - this book was no acception. I have fun reading this from the moment I cracked the book open. She has a nice balance between when to be funny and when not to be :)

I also want to say that this book was absolutly not predictable. Lets just say that I predicted the end, but I predicted it wrong. lol.
Theres not much more I can say about his book besides the fact that its amazing :) So you should ALL most DEFINETLY read this :))

Yours Truly,
Rachel<3

Wow, I'm sorry...

Wooooow...
Havent been here in a while. Charlie is an earthy, mountain-biking dude from Boulder, Colorado. Each of them has big plans with their respective friends for the summer—until they discover that their parents decided to swap houses!Luckily there’s no amount of homesickness that a bit of snooping can’t cure.

Charlie and Molly begin crawling under beds and poking around in closets to find out a little more about each other—and they like what they find. Can Charlie and Molly’s long-distance romance survive jealousy, misunderstandings—and the thousand miles between them? [Review as of Amazon]

I really enjoyed this book. The main reason I wanted an ARC was because I just couldnt not wait until October to read this book. And I'm glad that I didnt wait =) The book turned out amazing. Even though it was Fraibergs's first novel, it didnt overlly come across that way.

Although the book was amazing, there were times when I thought that things happened to fast...if that makes sense. Like...one minute its happy and then the next paragraph its not. I felt this escepesically at the end. But...I cant say much more on that or else I would give the ending away...

I also felt that the book was quiet predictable...but dont let this negativity get you wrong. This book was very good! The characters were very likeable. Although, there was a girl, Molly's best friend Celeste, whom I didnt really like. But thats what I mean, you got a great insight as to who that person was, and I really loved that about the novel. Also, the plot was just amazing in general.

Note!! Come back reaaallly soon, because I will be posting an interview with Jordanna Fraiberg =) Also...I'm still having a hard time getting through rumors for some reason =( But I'm trying...I swear...I'm trying!!

I Cant Read =(

Well, ok, I can read....durrhhh. lol.
But...I've been reading 'Rumors' by Anna Godbersen for over a week now...and out of 400 some odd numbers of pages do you wanna know where I ammm?

I'm on page 117!!
and I've been reading it for a week.
It never takes that long, I usually finish these types of books in 2 or 3 days!!

Its nothing against the book, I'm just never in the mood for reading that much right now. It was here, back in seventh grade, that five best friends shared everything - Seven jeans, MAC makeup, and their deepest, darkest secrets. For Aria, Spencer, Hanna, and Emily, it was a dream come true...until Alison, the most beautiful of them all, suddenly vanished.

Now someone named A has turned their charmed lives into a living nightmare. Emily has been shipped off to her hyper-conservative cousins in Iowa. Aria is stuck living with her dad and his home-wrecker girlfriend. And spencer fears she had something to do with Alison's murder. But Hanna's fate is far worse than all of that - she's clinging to life in the hospital because she 'knew too much'.

With A's threats turning dangerous and Ali's killer still on the loose, the girls must uncover the truth - about A, about Ali, and about what happened to Hanna- before they become A's next victims. But as they unravel Rosewood's mysteries and secrets, will it bring an end to the horror...or is this just the beginning? [Review from the back of the book]

This book was good just like the other 3 books. Although I've heard that there are going to be 4 more books...and I think its REALLy stupid to drag this story out that much...and then if they change the story to like 4 different girls and then make it the same plot I think that'll be pathetic too...

Basically I just dont think that they should drag it out any more. This book should be the last...but besides that the book was really good. You find out who A and who Ali's killer is. So that was good..and yeah...just make sure you pick it up...and if you havent read this series at all, then you should pick up the first book: Pretty Little Liars. =)
Rachel<3

When Lightning Strikes By Meg Cabot

Sophomore Jessica Mastriani is known for her impulsive behavior at school. She's been in detention nearly the entire year because she tends to hit people when they insult those she cares about. She receives yet another week of staying after school because she hits a football player who called her friend Ruth fat, an insult Ruth takes personally.
Instead of driving Jess home as usual, Ruth decides the two should walk to get some exercise. The weather looks ominous. A short distance from the school, the girls are caught in a hail and lightning storm and take refuge under metal bleachers.
As Jess is leaning against the post, lightning strikes and travels through her body, leaving her feeling tingly. Later, she notices a star shaped mark on her chest, which she assumes is the point of where the lightning entered. Other than that there don't seem to be any effects.

But when Jess wakes up the next morning, she realizes she knows the exact locations of two missing children she saw mentioned on the back of a milk carton. Jess can't rest until she calls the phone number '1-800-WHERE-R-U' to report what she knows. At first she is a hero, but when she calls again and tells the people the location of a girl who happened to be buried under a tree, dead, the FBI get involved.

Although on the back of the book it says that she has to choose whether to choose to use her power for good or bad....but that isnt quite true. She actually just has to save a young man that she put in danger by accident, and get out of a Military Base where she and the man she saved were basically being held hostage.

I really enjoyed this book. I think it was writen really well. I wasnt bored while I was reading it. Its just over all a good book. However, after reading the Mediator a while ago, and now reading this book, I noticed that Meg Cabot tends to have a smooth sailing plot and then a climax that happens towards the end of the book, and then it calms within the last 2 chapters or so.

But what she manages to do with both books...they are both a series, and I have only read the first book of the mediator and this book, and I also noticed that Meg Cabot does a good job at leaving you hanging and wanting to read the next book aswell...I also think that is very good :D

I recently started thinking that I was kind of over Meg Cabot, and that her writing was no doubt amazing, but I hadnt read her books. But I realized that even if your into reading older books, these two series are amazing to read at any age. There fun too :)

Anyway, hopefully you get what I'm trying to say...hehe,
Rachel<3

Long Time, No See...

Hello fellow book-bloggers.

I know I havent posted a post for a while now, (5 days ;)) Thats just because I have no books to read until my order from Amazon comes.

Actually thats not true, I tried reading 'Good Night Nobody' By Jennifer Weiner, and I had hopes for this book. It seemed like it was going to be very good. The story is basically about a girl, whose friend is murdered, and she wants to solve the mystery. I thought that sounded pretty good.
Except it wasnt. It could be just because I was too tired to read the book ( I have been reading a lot lately) or just because it wasnt really good, but I only read up to page 30 when I decided to put it down.

So...so much for that book. I thought that my books from amazon would have come by then......but no.

So I picked up my last book that I could read that was on my shelf, which happened to be "When Lightening Strikes (1-800-WHERE-R-YOU)" series by Meg Cabot. And that actually turned out to be not so bad. I havent read it all yet, so a review of that book is yet to come. But my order from amazon still hasnt come, and its about 10 days after I oredered them (apparently they are supposed to come within 8-14 days after I order the books)......so I picked it up and started reading...I dont know if I'll finish it (I'm a slow reader) but its really good so far...

Its just about a girl who gets hit by lightening, and suddenly she has this power where she knows exactly where missing children are located. Then it said on the back that should she choose her power for good or bad....I dont exactly know how that part is coming in yet...but we'll see :)
Sooo...yeah, thats basically what I have been up to and why I havent posted anything lately...
I dont have a reason to make a new post because all I'm doing is trying to finish a book...hehe...

But soon, when finally my books arrive then that will be fun...lots of reviews comeing up. Within that order I finally got Rumors and Unbelievable (PLL #4) and I'm really excited for those two. I've been wanting to read those two books for a while...I have other books coming, just those are the two I'm looking forward to the most.

Ok...I'm rambling on and on so I'm thinking maybe I'll stop. lol.
Yours Truely,
Rachel<3

The Mediator

Suze Simons is a 'mediator' who helps troubled ghosts who are still stuck in our world to go to the world where the dead belongs. When she moves to California, shes is hoping to have a fresh start, and no more mediator stuff. But, moving into her step-dad's place offers her weirder experiences , with a hot and handsome ghost Jesse who is 'sharing' her bedroom, becoming the most popular girl in her new school after threatening to break all of s0meones fingers and also saving the hottest boy at School, Bryce.

Well, Suze's life's not that simple and happy, especially when there's Heather, the ghost who would stop at nothing to kill Bryce, her ex-boyfriend.What does Suze do to save Bryce and the school, where she's had quite a good beginning?...is the story.

I know its kind of late to be reading the Mediator series...not late, but I'm sure that all of you guys have read this book by now. Thats why. But I actually really enjoyed it. I didnt think I would, I thought it was going to be too voodoo for me...but surprisingly it was really good. It was quite easy to relate to Suze, the main character, and it was really fun watching her relationships unfold with the people around her.

I really recommend this book for anyone, :]

Rachel<3

Contest and Poseur<3

Hello Fellow Bloggers, I thought that it might be time to have another contest so here it goes.

To enter: Please e-mail me at simply-chillin@hotmail.com
When it ends: July 30th 2008
Winner Anouncements: July 31st 2008
Prize: 2 Books of YOUR choice (plus my traditional Japanese snack :D)
Open to: anyone (it will be international :D)
How to get EXTRA entries:
-You will get 2 more entries by posting a link to this conest somewhere on your blog (send me the link)
-By Making a banner for me that says (Book Junkee) you will get 3 extra entries.
-By Doing anything else you will get an extra 1 entry (but make sure to send me a link of that something else)

In total you could get 7 entries, and that would sure increase your chance of getting those two books you've wanted for a while.

Also, when you enter and send me the e-mail, could you please write the title of the two books you want, so that as soon as I know the winner, I wont have to wait for you to contact me, I can just send out my order for your books, because that way you'll get them faster.

warning...please be patient with me. But hang out together? They'd rather be hanged. Borrow one another's clothes? They'd sooner borrow a zit. So when these four sophomores are forced into a class to create their own fashion label, they Clash with a capital C. Janie thinks Melissa and Charlotte are Beverly Hills brats. They dismiss Janie as a Valley rat in sheep's clothing. And Petra, well . . . Petra couldn't care less. Can a cool coquette, a shy punk, a hippie goddess, and a ghettoglam egomaniac make beautiful couture together? At Winston Prep, survival of the fittest comes down to who fits in-and what fits. And survival at Winston Prep is a whole other story, try surviving this, and all the other out-side boy drama.

I really enjoyed this book. I know it seems like your typical Popular vrs. Unpopular, but its not really. They have nice little twists like, well designing a fashion label...the story is about coming up with a name for that label because right now its 'The Trend Set'...Anyway. Yeah, this book was good, and I was always looking forward to the little pictures that would come in the middle of some chapters...I really enjoyed this and helped me get a sense of what the characters were like.

I would suggest picking up this book, and dont forget to look for The Good, the Fab, and the Ugly (Poseur Series #2) which will be coming out in October this year.

Thats all for now :D

When It Happen by Susane Colasanti

Title: When It Happens

Author: Susane Colasanti

Rating: 9.1/10

Sara and Tobey couldn't be more different. She is focused on getting into her first-choice college; he wants to win Battle of the Bands. Sara's other goal is to find true love, so when Dave, a popular jock, asks her out, she's thrilled. But then there's Tobey. His amazing blue eyes and quirky wit always creep into her thoughts. It just so happens that one of Tobey's goals is also to make Sara fall in love with him. Told in alternating points of view, Sara and Tobey's real connection will have everyone rooting for them from the minute they meet. [Review from Barns and Nobles]

Yes...this book was very good. If this tells you anything, I finished it in one day. I dont know if it was because I was bored, or if its because I couldnt put it down. The book was really good though, the writing (I really love when books are written in alternating points of view), it was very realistic, the book wasnt too fast-paced and it wasnt too slow, it was just right. And Camden King was always just that hot, popular guy I'd pass in the halls, whose ego was probably much bigger than his brain. I didn't think there'd ever be a reason for us to actually, like, interact.

Then again, I never thought I'd mess up so badly that my family might lose our entire restaurant if I didn't come up with a ton of money, and fast. So that's where Camden comes in—he and his evil/genius plan to do kids' homework for cash.

I know cheating's wrong, but it's better than being dead, right? Which is what I'd be if my parents knew about what happened. I never expected things to spin so far out of control. Or that I'd be such a sucker for Camden's lopsided grin. Or that falling apart could be the best thing that ever happened to me.

Answer: The time of my life. [REVIEW FROM BARNS AND NOBLES]

She's So Money By Cherry Cheva was a very good book. It was a nice fun read. It wasnt typical, it wasnt like you had to go really deep when you were reading it. Honestly, just a nice light fun read. Dont let this turn you off...you should still definetly read this book. If you dont? Your crazy.

I wont lie, as I read and got very close to the ending, after a certian *event* I knew how the ending was going to turn out. So, I suppose only that part was sort of cliche, but besides that a great book. The writing was good, not too descriptive where you get bored, but not like it was writen and then your like 'pff, thats so fake'.

A nice believable story that I think is worth reading...thats all there is to it =D

I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone

Title: I wanna be your Joey Ramone

Author: Stephanie Kuehnert

Rating: 9.45/10

Emily's parent fled their rural hometown in 1974 on a motorcycle with no thoughts of ever coming back to small town Carlisle. Beneath their passion for music, and their care-free personalities, was a dark secret of why they truely left to go to Chicago...this was also the reason that her mother had left Emily's father 2 years later. From what Emily had heard, she left to follow the exploding music scene, and her father was to raise
her all alone.

So, when Louisa gives birth to Emily, she funs off, leaving Michael no choice but to raise her daughter back in Carlisle, Wisconsin. Emily didnt need anyone to tell her - although in such a small town like Carlisle, there wasnt much chance of escaping the constant gossip - that she was Louisa's child, they had the same envy green eyes, the same care-free atitude, and the same passion for punk rock music.

Emily feels desperate to somehow connect to her mother. From the stories that she herd from Michael, she knows that she left to follow for music. Emily thought that if maybe she was the one to make the music, that it might bring Louisa back home. With her bestfriend, Regan, they create a band called 'She Laughs'. If there was any hope of Louisa coming back into Emily's life, it was music.

Slowly, She Laughs starts to appear at other places to perform. Finally they decided to move to Chicago, thinking that there would be more chances of signing a contract. However, its not as easy as it seemed back in Carlisle...now they have bigger issues to deal with. They continue their habits of drinking...but once they start moving around more for touring, Emily ends up with an abusive relationship, and taking drugs. Before they know it they reach their breaking point...

I wanna be your Joey Ramone, was a different kind of story for me. Although it is still in the same genre that I read (fiction and YA) it seemed to stand out from the thousands of other books that are bookshelves accross the world. This book really seemed to stick to me for some reason. However, I wont lie...I didnt connect to any of these characters, or plot. Emily's character also made me mad at times when she kept on denying her obvious feelings towards Louisa...but...maybe thats why I felt so connected to this book.

Through out chapters mostly from Emily's perspective and the occasional chapter from Louisa's perspective, you get a good idea of who she is - or who she is trying to be. Not only do chapters alternate, but some times they go back in time in one paragraph, and then they are in the present the next...so sometimes its hard to keep up with where you are, and what time period.

My last thought is that, I found it very interesting, that despite this book being published in 2008...the time frame was from the 1980s and 1990s...maybe its just a punk rock thing that I didnt overly understand...but...yeah, this book is very hardcore punk rock. You'll get a clear understanding of what it is.

Anyway, my point = Pick up this book and read it...even if your like 'ahh, punk rock...and stories about drugs and drinking, isnt really my thing' I thought the exact same thing...but seriously, this book will stick with you.

Rachel<3

The Market by J.M. Steele

Themes: Friends, Love, Hatred, Rich, Betrayal

Rating: 6.5/10

"I scrolled down...and down...and down...I wondered weather I was even on the list...and there I was....number 71."

Kate was not popular, but she was also not...that loser-ish...she thought she was pretty average...and that's just what she was. Average. She had her friends Dev, and Callie...she had average looks, and she had wonderful brains. But at MHS, average was not enough...on the Internet.

When Kate gets a IM from someone she does not know, telling her to visit MHS Market.com...she soon finds out that there is a ranking of all the senior girls at her high school. They are stocks and are all being rated.

That's when Kate finds out that she is only 71 our of 140 girls. Dev suggests that they try to crack the Market, by making Kate number one with her make-over, new clothes, and a ticket to the popular crowed. But everyone knows that once you get there...it is never the same, when you try to go back.

The Market by J.M. Steele was quite a typical book. It was the traditional...loser gets popular, dumps her friends, but finds out that the popular life is not how she pictured it and tries to go back, but they wont let her, then she does something heroic and is accepted again...to me...VERY typical.

The plot had me fooled. I thought that book was going to be amazing, but it started out slow, and then towards the middle, I started to get into it...and if you dont mind the typical book now and then, then I really suggest that you pick this up...Its just...I really get bored easily, and this is a theme that I have seen one time too many...thats why I rate it so low...but in all it was a good book =]

Rachel<3 a.k.a...Muffins =] (Yum)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://book-junkee.blogspot.com/2008/07/market-by-jm-steele.html' title='The Market by J.M. Although from everyone else's point of view, it will seem that way...but...its not always what it seems.

Jordan and Courtney were the couple. A very unlikely one, but the couple none-the-less. They were love. They spent days together, called each other, they went to Miami as a mini-break. They are going to the same collage, and they plan on driving all the way there, together.

But then Jordan says that he met someone one the Internet, and dumps Courtney. The trip was off...in Courtney's mind. But Jordan really wanted to go. So the trip is on. They both just have to stick it out for the three days they are stuck in the car together.

But what Courtney doesn't know, is that he still loves her. He is madly in love with her. And Courtney also doesn't know the real reason of why they broke up. :O

I really enjoyed this book. It was fast, it was fun. And honestly I didn't really want the book to end. I didn't realize that I felt that way until after...but when I finished it and I put it down, I just wanted to pick up and read the next chapter...but there was no next chapter. :(

Anyway, this book is really enjoyable for me because the chapters alternate from before and during the trip, and also alternates the narrator between Jordan and Courtney...which I love, because I like seeing different views concerning an issue.

Basically this book was really good. If you haven't read it yet, then I highly recommend it =]

Rachel<3

Second Chance by Jane Green

Title: Second Chance

Author: Jane Green

Rating: 7.9/10

Holly, Saffron, Olivia, Paul, and Tom have been best friends since they they were in school. Now 20 years later they have all gone their separate ways, and are only in contact with each other through Tom.
Holly is about 39, and has two children, Daisy and Oliver. She is unhappily married to her husband Marcus. Marcus is a control freak, and he thinks he is the most important man in the world. He puts everyone around him down, including Holly. And shes getting awfully tired of it. She doesn't know what to do, but shes too afraid to admit to herself that her marriage is in danger.

Saffron lives in L.A. and is a movie star. Not a very famous one, since she has only been in some movies, and usually had only a minor part. However, although Saffrons life seems fine, she is an alcoholic, and is involved with Pearce (a HUGE movie star) who is actually married. All she wants to is stop her drinking habit, and to be with P (Pearce).

Olivia, is a pet freak. I enjoyed this book. It reminded me of The Luxe. Not in the way that it was mystery, lust and jealousy and betrayal and all that. But it was about how Tom's death affected them...the story was alternating between present and past, and also between characters. Before you know it you would be reading the book from someone else's perspective...Sometimes it got confusing, but it was always fine.
Anyway, yes, this book was good. I wouldn't put it at the top of your 'To-Be-Read' List, but it would definitely be in the Top 15 =]]

Happy Reading.
--Rachel

Book Of Shadows (Sweep, Book One)

Title: Book of Shadows

Author: Cate Tireman

Rating: 8.5/10

This book is...what shall we call it...well, its an...interesting book. I'm talking about everything; this book is so thin, yet it holds a story that seems to be going on for 1000 pages, instead of 172. Some of you may not know what I mean by this. What I'm trying to say is that it contained so much...but...in a good way...in a way where I wanted to keep on reading. And luckly I can do just that because it is a series. So far with a total of 6 books in it...however, I have only read this book...the first one. Anyway, here is my review:

Morgan may seem like the ordinary geek you see in every school. A member of the math club, good grade, has that cute-but-no-one-realizes-it best guy friend, Robbie, and that So-Beautiful-you-dont-want-to-stand-next-to-her best friend, Bree. To her, her life is great, she wouldnt want anything more :)

But then comes Cal. A mysterious guy who seems to be into Morgan, despite the looks, the chest department, and the body. Then Cal starts inviting people to 'circles'...an event that witches do, people who are in the religion of Wicca.

Cal is hot, like a god himself, and totally out of Morgans lead, but somehow, Morgan can sense something from him, an interest. After a while Bree gets jealous and their friendship ends.

After the first invite to Morgans first 'circle' she can sense something changing in her...and soon finds out that she might not just be a witch in practice...but could she be a witch by blood?

I really enjoyed this book. I used to think that Wicca was all bad, but it shows a different side to the religion. (sorry my sentence transitions are going to be terrible here, but bare with be). The book has good balance of friendship, love, mystery, suspense (every chapter leaves you craving for more)...and to top it off, the end was a total cliff hanger, which is great in a series because it makes you buy the next one...which I have every intention on doing.

Anyway, basically I think that you should just go and pick up the first book in this series...its a thin book, but dont let that turn you off, because like I said, it feels like more, anyway, its a fun, fast, but very enjoying book, so dont just shrug it off, go buy it...you wont be sorry ;)

Rachel...a.k.a...Muffins<3

Update.

I'm so sorry.
I know, I suck as a blogger. I can do things normal people cant do. Powerful things. Magickal things. It scares me.
I never chose to learn witchcraft. But I'm starting to wonder if witchcraft is choosing me

Its actually not such a bad book. Who’s your all-time favorite author, and why?
This is hard...there are so many...but I'm gonna have to be really picky on what the question is asking me...since it says all time I guess I'm going to pick an author that I have liked since I was littler....and that would be Meg Cabot. At the moment, I wouldnt say I'm her biggest fan, but if its all time, then I would have to say its her since I really enjoyed many of her books =]

2. Who was your first favorite author, and why? Do you still consider him or her among your favorites?
My first favourite author was Jacqueline Wilson. I would say that she wrote for people who are around age 12 and under...I started reading around that age...(10-ish) so I have to say that she was my first. I wouldnt really say that she is among my favourites now, only due to the fact that her writing is a bit too young for me now.

3. Who’s the most recent addition to your list of favorite authors, and why?
Honestly I'm going to have to say Stephenie Meyer. I only discovered the Twilight series this winter...and I have read MANY books since then...just none that I would consider as ones I would read again. lol.

4. If someone asked you who your favorite authors were right now, which authors would first pop out of your mouth?
Most likely
-Stephenie Meyer
-Meg Cabot
-Gabriella Zevin
-Sara Shepered
-Jay Asher
and
-John Green

I am going to meme:
-Temppatt
-Reviewer X
and anyone else who feels like.....sorry I just cant be bothered to look at the linkies...lol.

Tired, Confused, and once again slightly craving muffins,
Rachel.

Update & Eclipse <3

I havent been back to Bloggers for a quite a while now, and I'm very sorry. I had HIGH hopes for this book....and it was shattered.

By the way, to anyone who hasnt read Eclipse, dispite my negativity towards the book, it was still a book better than many others that I have read...and if you havent read Twilight....your insane. Go to the book store, and buy a copy now...

ok... anyway. I wont be bothering with a review this time because I'm sure you guys have all read this book.....but.
Twilight was awesome. I'm still in love with this book....when I read New Moon, I was thinking "Ok....I'm sure that Stephinie was just..........you know...on the low...
AND THEN THIS?!?! Eclipse was very disappointing. Poor? Doesnt matter; at Wellington high, it will either be the most beautiful time of your life.....or.....the loneliest. And it doesnt matter how much money you have; it will always be the most difficult. Which will it be for these two girls?

Laine Hunt has Wellington written all over her. Shes a cross between a Tommy Hilfiger girl - with the blonde - almost white - hair, and blue eyes. She owns the clothes; she comes from a place of money, and Wellington is the place for her.

Nikki Olivetti on the other hand is not Wellington material. She has a fabulous body, and she knows it. She has everything she could ever want. But when she gets to Wellington, she notices that she is not prepy at all...but comes off as a wore/stripper type of girl.

These two girls couldnt have less in common. Besides one fact. They both want to make it up to the Upper-Class; and they both need to survive the adventure of getting there. Its a world with no parents, and no limits. No one ever thinks that they could actually crash and burn...but someone always does.

I have to say that I hated this book. And to be completely honest, I didnt even finish it. This book had a lot of potential...the story line seemed okay, you know? But as said in the Review; instead of a person crashing and burning...I'm going to have to say that this book did. To get an idea of what it was like...it was kind of like Private by Kate Brain that went comepletely wrong and Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld mixed together.

I give it a 1/5...

Slightly mad that there are 3 of these books and suddenly craving muffins,

Rachel

Meme-d once again.

Yes, the meme returns. What was the start of it all?

I've always loved to write and to tell stories. It wasn\'t until I met a group of fantastic and supportive writers online, though, that I truly believed I could write a whole book. One dear friend, Canadian author Marsha Skrypuch, told me about the opportunity to submit a proposal for Puffin's Students Across the Seven Seas series... and my proposal sold! (NOW AND ZEN) That's how I met my fantabulous editor, Angelle Pilkington, and got to start working with the unbelievably cool people at Puffin.

In what kind of environment do you usually write? Music in the background?

I can write anywhere. Have laptop, will travel. In fact, when we lived in Japan, I traveled a lot so I had to learn to tune out everything else so I could write or I would never get anything done. Now I am lucky to have a home office and I usually write in there, with my dog Kali napping (or yapping) beside me. I do like to listen to music, but usually only instrumental. If there are words, I can\'t help but sing along!

How did you get the idea to write Death by Bikini?

It actually evolved from a writing exercise from one of my online writing groups. See? Exercise is important. : )

Is anything in DEATH BY BIKINI based on real life situations?

I got clobbered by a wave when I was in Maui a couple of years ago, which you\'ll see in a scene in the book. The setting is also drawn from my visits to Hawaii and Guam.

What is your typical day like?

After I send the kids off to school, I divide my day between mom chores, walking Kali, playing with Kali, feeding Kali, volunteering... and writing.

What was the last book you read? Did you enjoy it?

VIOLET BY DESIGN by Melissa Walker, who is a teenfictioncafe sister. Yes, I enjoyed it! Right now I'm reading another favorite author, Lee Child's BAD LUCK AND TROUBLE.

What do you like about being a novelist? Why?
I appreciate being able to do what I like best - to write and tell stories - and to get paid for it! Better yet is when someone reads the stories I tell - and enjoys the ride. That's what books are all about and I am thrilled to be a part of that world.

What's next?

Aphra's adventures continue in DEATH BY LATTE, which will be released in September and again in DEATH BY DENIM, which comes your way next February.
And... a scoop for cheeseandbooks readers... I had the honor to read an advanced copy. And personally, I cannot wait for you guys to read it too ;)

From the eyes of another, Aphra Connolly's life seems like paradise. What with her surroundings of a hotel - villas - the ocean, rain forests, the whole deal. But from the eyes of Aphra, her life is boring and pathetic. Since the vacation spot is mostly for adults; she has no one her own age to socialize with. Until Seth Mulo shows up. She cant keep her eyes off of him. But Aphra has a policy to not let her guard down around guests. Because whoever comes to the exotic vacation spot, has to leave sooner or later.

But then Bianca, a rock-stars girlfriend, is found dead on the beach. Her bikini straps pulled and tied very tightly around her neck. How could this happen? How did it happen? Or better yet...who did it? Aphra immediately points fingers at Seth's family, who showed up only a day before.

Aphra cant just sit back and watch it happen. She wants to get to the bottom of this. But getting involved in this mystery, was nothing she could prepare herself for.

Death by Bikini was a very good book. In my opinion it moved at a perfect pace (not to slow not to fast) but it was definitely a page turner. Linda Gerber, does a fantastic ob at tying all the strings together in the end. This book will not keep you hanging, oh no, it will make you want more...it will make you crave for more :)
4/5.

Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Linda Gerber herself!
